Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for the Falcon program in Hawthorne, CA. You will own the design of structures, fluid systems and components for Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy, from concept through launch and re-use, using hand calculations, FEA, and CAD.

Collaboration with senior leadership and suppliers is essential in a fast-paced, innovative environment. You should be comfortable with longer hours, travel for hardware test, and have a solid engineering background with CAD/FEA and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
1+ years of experience with CAD or FEA software packages (professional, academic, entrepreneurial, or hobby setting).
1+ years of hands-on hardware experience performing fabrication, assembly and/or testing.

Responsibilities

Full ownership of primary and secondary structures, mechanisms, and/or fluid systems for Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy.
Use hand calculations, FEA, and CAD to ensure hardware meets requirements.
Lead design reviews and hardware qualifications.
Serve as technical interface with suppliers and customers.
Own the hardware delivery timeline from inception to launch and reuse.
