Job summary

FlightSafety International is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to develop detailed design drawings and 3D models from engineering data, providing supporting analysis as required.

You will create 2D layouts and 3D models to define dimensions, tolerances, finishes and materials, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to guide manufacturing through all training equipment production stages. Travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 2+ years of related experience preferred.
• Capable of developing original design concepts based upon sound engineering principles with minimal guidance.
• 2D drafting package and 3D modeling package, preferably SolidWorks.
• Experience with materials, manufacturing processes, design for manufacturing, and PLM/configuration control.
• Strong communication skills when discussing technical topics with coworkers.
• Ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in support of production schedules.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed design drawings from engineering data with minimal supervision.
• Create 2D layouts or 3D models to determine size, shape and arrangement of components; define part requirements including dimensions, tolerances, finishes, material and clearance.
• Produce installation, assembly and detail drawings from 2D layouts or 3D models.
• Perform analysis to support design and resolve technical issues.
• Provide technical direction and support to manufacturing through all phases of training equipment production.
• Travel as required.
