Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
• 3+ years of mechanical design experience with industrial machinery, automation equipment, conveyors, or similar systems.
• 3+ years of experience with 3D CAD software.
• SolidWorks experience preferred; Autodesk Inventor or other comparable 3D CAD systems considered.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, fabrication drawings, layouts, and BOMs.
• Perform engineering calculations and analysis to validate designs and ensure they meet project requirements.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls, software, manufacturing, and other engineering disciplines to develop integrated equipment solutions.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot design, manufacturing, assembly, and field installation issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, manuals, BOMs, and other project documentation.
• Support equipment testing, validation, installation, and startup activities as needed.

Mechanical Design Engineer – Industrial Automation & Material Handling

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our customer's engineering team in Wixom, Michigan. This is a direct hire opportunity for an experienced mechanical designer who enjoys developing equipment and solving complex engineering challenges in a hands-on industrial environment. The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the engineering, design, development, modeling, and documentation of mechanical systems and components used in industrial automation, material handling, manufacturing, and related applications.

The ideal candidate will have experience designing industrial machinery, conveyors, automation equipment, material handling systems, or other complex mechanical equipment.

Strong SolidWorks experience is preferred. Candidates with experience using Autodesk Inventor or other comparable 3D CAD platforms will also be considered.

What You'll Do

• 3+ years of experience with 3D CAD software.
• Strong SolidWorks experience preferred; experience with Autodesk Inventor or another comparable 3D CAD system will also be considered.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
