Zobility is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our industrial automation team in Wixom, MI. You will design mechanical components and assemblies for automated systems, create 2D drawings and 3D models, and collaborate with electrical and controls engineers to integrate mechanical designs with PLC-controlled equipment.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of experience, strong SolidWorks and AutoCAD skills, and hands-on experience with automated machinery and material handling systems.

Qualificações

• 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within industrial automation, machine building, or automated manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, including 3D modeling, 2D drafting, and preparation of detailed assembly drawings.
• Hands-on experience designing automated machinery, custom equipment, production fixtures, conveyors, robotic workstations, or material handling systems.

Responsabilidades

• Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and equipment for industrial automation systems using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, ensuring designs meet functional, operational, and manufacturing requirements.
• Create detailed 2D engineering drawings, 3D models, assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, and BOMs for automated machinery and systems.
• Develop mechanical layouts and assembly designs for automated production equipment, including machine frames, tooling, brackets, mounting systems, and sensors/actuators integration.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and automation engineering teams to ensure proper integration with PLC-controlled equipment, robotics, pneumatic systems, and other processes.
• Review drawings for dimensional accuracy, tolerances, clearances, and manufacturability; incorporate changes and resolve fitment issues during fabrication and installation.
• Support prototype development, equipment assembly, testing, and troubleshooting with shop-floor technicians and engineers.
• Maintain engineering documentation, design revisions, and CAD files, ensuring compliance with standards and procedures.
