Description
Summary of Position:
The mechanical design engineer is responsible for interpreting customer, regulatory and internal process requirements, and developing the mechanical and electro-mechanical design at US Cargo Systems for commercial and military aerospace cargo loading systems. The mechanical design engineer will be the heart of an integrated product team that is tasked with generating new business on behalf of the organization. The mechanical design engineer is expected to provide the necessary leadership to the integrated product team members.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Understand the customer requirements and track the compliance
- Design validation and verification (analysis, testing, reports)
- Create 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings
- Maintain drawing list, technical reports, and task lists
- Review deviation requests, material reports, change requests
- Apply Design for cost/manufacture/assembly principles
- Participate and be "hands on" in the troubleshooting of mechanical issues
- All other duties as assigned

The individual applying for this position must show a keen interest in mechanical and electro-mechanical design, materials science, stress analysis, state of the art manufacturing technologies, and going hands-on when necessary. In addition, the individual must show an interest in pushing beyond the envelope of current designs.
Minimum
Minimum Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Experience in the design of dynamic mechanical and electro-mechanical components and mechanisms for aerospace
- Proficiency in 3D CAD environment (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA)
Preferred
- Master of Science degree (M.S.) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field of study.
- Practical troubleshooting of mechanisms in the context of the development cycle
- Certification of mechanical and electro-mechanical components for civil or military aerospace applications
- Parts Manufacturing Approval (PMA) design and certification (including test and computation)
- Stress analysis
- Advanced CAD/manufacturing tools
Eligibility Requirements
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. US Cargo Systems will require proof of status before employment.

- Works at telephone answering equipment, design equipment, and at a PC for hours at a time
