  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD systems.

Blackrock Resources is seeking an experienced Mechanical Department Manager to lead our Pittsburgh-based mechanical engineering team with a focus on industrial piping systems. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned engineering leader who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for team development, project execution, and business growth. As part of a multidisciplinary engineering and construction services organization, you will work with clients across a wide range of industries, including metals, chemical, industrial manufacturing, automotive, food processing, municipal, and environmental sectors. You will play a key role in shaping the future of our mechanical department while delivering innovative solutions for complex heavy industrial projects.

Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania or another U.S. state preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years of engineering experience in industrial environments.
  • 5+ years of leadership or management experience.
  • Strong background in industrial piping system design and analysis.
  • Experience leading projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering and execution.
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD systems.
Technical Expertise
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as:
    • Caesar II
    • Pipe-Flo
    • AFT Fathom
  • Strong knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including:
    • ASME
    • NFPA
    • API
  • Experience within heavy industrial sectors such as metals, chemical processing, manufacturing, energy, or related industries.
Leadership & Department Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and designers.
  • Plan and allocate resources across multiple projects and proposals.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support employee development initiatives.
