Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. seeks a Mechanical Engineer for Fort Benning, GA. The role involves reviewing contractor procedures, participating in the 3-Phase Inspection, and ensuring design and construction compliance with contract documents.

Responsibilities include evaluating submittals, RFIs, schedules, and change orders, with a focus on safety and quality. Proficiency in RMS 3.0, AutoCAD, and MicroStation is preferred; U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 4+ years of construction experience.
• High school diploma with 10+ years of construction project inspection experience on large, complex projects.
• Experience with construction inspection, contract administration, and/or office engineering support.
• Experience with mechanical/HVAC/plumbing systems and mechanical construction inspection.
• PE license preferred.
• USACE or federal project experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
• Proficiency in MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, plans, specs, and contract documents.
• Experience reviewing submittals, RFIs/RFCs, schedules, QC procedures, payment estimates, and change requests.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; RMS 3.0 experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review contractors' quality management and control procedures and report findings to the Contracting Officer's Representative.
• Attend and participate in the 3-Phase Inspection process.
• Observe and investigate construction to identify major problems and report findings.
• Review submittals and provide recommendations to the Contracting Officer's Representative.
• Provide written comments on selected contractor submittals under contract clauses.
• Evaluate questions and RFIs/RFCs and recommend solutions.
• Review contractors' construction schedules and report findings.
• Advise on acceptability of draft reports, progress payments, and other progress reports.
• Review and comment on accuracy of contractor payment estimates.
• Compute contract time extensions and suggest extensions.
• Assist in preparing documents for change orders and claims.
• Provide RMS-based reporting and analysis for the Resident Office.
• Draft letters explaining deficiencies to contractors.
