Job summary

Laitram Machinery, Inc. in New Orleans, LA, seeks a Mechanical Assembly Technician to assemble stainless steel seafood processing equipment and related machinery, following engineering drawings and performing acceptance tests.

You will build assemblies of varying sizes, document deviations, run QC checks, and record labor on the shop floor system. The role emphasizes precision, teamwork, and meeting shipping deadlines; overtime and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Must read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Must identify and operate basic hand tools and small power tools.
• Must be fluent in both written and spoken English.
• Strong communication skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic math skills and ability to read/use a tape measure.
• Ability to interface with a computer for shop floor control.
• Willing to cross-train in other work centers as needed.
• Self-managed team player with a good attitude.
• Detail oriented and passionate about quality work.
• Possess overtime flexibility; some travel may be required.
• Capable of lifting and moving up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assembles mechanical equipment per engineering drawings and reports deviations.
• Performs QC checks and documents results.
• Uses computer software to log labor to each job.
• Builds small and large assemblies for seafood/poultry equipment and conveyors.
• Constructs shipping/crating skids for national/international shipping.
