Job summary

Laitram Machinery, Inc. in Harahan, LA, is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician to assemble equipment per engineering drawings and support acceptance testing of stainless steel seafood processing systems.

The role involves building both small and large assemblies, and ensuring parts meet form, fit and function requirements. Candidates must read drawings, use hand and power tools, and operate a shop floor control computer.

Qualifications

• Must read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Identify and operate basic hand tools and small power tools.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Strong communication skills and ability to meet ship dates.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Math skills and ability to read/use a tape measure.
• Able to interface with a computer to access manufacturing shop floor control system.
• Willing to cross train in other work centers.
• Self-managed team player with a positive attitude.
• Detail oriented with a passion for quality.
• Ongoing overtime may be required; some travel may be necessary.
• Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs.

Laitram Machinery, Inc. has a position available for a Mechanical Assembly Technician. Primary responsibilities include mechanical assembly and acceptance test of stainless steel seafood processing equipment (as well as other mechanical food processing equipment); engineering drawings will be provided to guide assembly.
