Job summary

RTX’s San Marcos, TX facility is seeking a Mechanical Assembler I to perform mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly, tests, and inspection tasks. You will read blueprints, use hand and power tools, and ensure parts meet specs in a cleanroom-friendly environment.

Training is provided with initial hours 7:00–3:30 for up to 90 days, followed by 2nd shift (3:00 PM–11:30 PM), Monday–Friday. Candidates should be able to lift 25 lbs and work up to 10 hours daily while maintaining safety and quality

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) required.
  • Minimum 1 year of machine operation experience.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams and/or engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly, tests, fabrications, and inspection.
  • Follow blueprints and operation sheets for standard work.
  • Use hand tools, torque wrenches, rivet guns, grinders, and other tools for assembly.
  • Conduct tests and record gauge readings and test results.
  • Maintain PPE compliance and cleanliness in the work area.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs and stand for up to 10 hours daily.

Location & Role

The San Marcos, TX facility is looking to fill a Mechanical Assembler I Role. You will plan and perform a variety of mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly, tests, fabrications, and inspection operations on various products in standard and non-standard environments to maintain flow of work.

Working Hours (after the completion of training): 2nd shift hours (3pm-11:30 pm) Monday -Friday.

What You Will Do
  • Training hours: 7am-3:30pm for up to 90 days.
  • Performs quality work checks, identifies product defects and records identified defects.
  • Reworks and/or repairs assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes.
  • Precision Assembly: Utilize hand tools such as drills, torque wrenches, rivet guns, grinders, orbital sanders, and pull motors, for daily assembly tasks.
  • Measurement & Inspection: Employ measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and standard rulers, to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Blueprints & Instructions: Adherence and understanding of blueprints and operation sheets for standard work instructions in assembling products.
  • Equipment Adjustment: Adjust equipment based on test results and a thorough understanding of processes and machinery.
  • Testing & Recording: Conduct tests for oxygen purity and moisture content at various stages of the process, recording gauge readings and test results.
  • Compliance & Safety: Adhere to PPE and cleanroom standards to prevent foreign objects and debris from contaminating products.
  • Quality & Safety Standards: Perform all tasks in accordance with established quality standards and safety procedures, maintaining a clean and safe work area.
  • Must be willing and able to lift up to 25 lbs and work in a standing position for up to 10 hours per day.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline.
  • 1 years minimum of relevant machine operation experience highly preferred.
  • 1 or more years of Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams and/or engineering drawings to assemble equipment.
  • 1 or more years of Experience with general hand and/or power tools.
