Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Windsor Locks, CT, is seeking a maintenance technician to install, troubleshoot, repair, and modify machining equipment while following safety directions. You will read blueprints, diagnose malfunctions, and service a variety of machines and test gear.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and 2–3 years of trades training in machine and mechanical repair, with preferred certifications for motors, respirators, and powered industrial trucks.

  • Equivalent to 2-3 years trades training in machine and mechanical repair.
  • Certification and/or licensing for motor vehicles, respirators and power industrial trucks preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, and perform a variety of duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and modify machining process and test equipment and accessories while practicing and complying with environmental health and safety directions and procedures.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, schematics, manufactures service manuals, written and verbal instructions.
  • Locate source of malfunction and take corrective action to repair a variety of machines and test equipment.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools to repair, replace and modify machines and accessories.
  • Use a variety of test, measuring and alignment equipment such as scales, micrometers, dial indicators, verniers, height gages, laser alignment, and vibration alignment.
  • Work on vacuum, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical system.
  • Maybe required to disconnect and reconnect motors of other equipment to facilitate repairs.
  • Operate and cycle machinery to ensure correct function of equipment.
  • Work with plant maintenance to facilitate machine relocation and surplusing.
  • Perform and update preventative maintenance requirements and schematics and ensure all the daily logs and documentation are current.
  • When required, perform crib tasks and assist other trades.
  • Contact vendors to identify resolutions to repairs and parts availability.
  • Instruct one or two fellow employees in the proper performance of duties.
  • Improve process and solve problems in cooperation with fellow employees and technical support group.
  • Keep equipment and surrounding areas neat and clean.
  • Perform related duties as required within the scope of this job function.

The salary range for this role $40.31 - $50.34 per hour; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.

3rd Shift: Sunday - Thursday, 12:00am- 7:00am Training could potentially take place on 1st or 2nd Shift for up to 6 months.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Equivalent to 2-3 years trades training in machine and mechanical repair.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Certification and/or licensing for motor vehicles, respirators and power industrial trucks.
  • Requires a well-rounded knowledge of equipment repair practices and procedures, equipment operation and be familiar with hydraulic, pneumatic and vacuum systems.
  • Requires some knowledge of electrical control systems.
  • Requires training in confined space and lock-out tag-out.
  • Training and/or knowledge is required for basic computer skills.
