Aerotek in Byhalia, Mississippi seeks a Manufacturing Technician (Mechanical Assembler) to manually assemble and rework large-scale electrical panels for data center systems. You will follow strict specifications, work with bolts and fasteners, and stay safety-conscious in a hands-on, team-based environment.

This contract role involves 10-12 hour shifts with rotations across multiple sites, using rivet guns, torque wrenches and bar code scanners to ensure accurate production tracking and quality

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing or mechanical assembly.
  • Experience with bolts, fasteners and large mechanical structures.
  • Proficiency with power and hand tools in a production setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, visual aids, or simple instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble and rework large electrical panel units, replacing broken bolts and ensuring proper torque.
  • Assemble and reassemble units per customer specs, blueprints, and visuals.
  • Use rivet guns, torque wrenches and other tools for mechanical tasks.
  • Operate bar code scanners to track work and materials.
  • Work in a five-person team to disassemble, repair, and reassemble units efficiently.
  • Coordinate multi-person tasks, including lifts and complex disassembly actions.
  • Visually inspect parts for proper fit and quality, correcting defects.
  • Travel between data centers, warehouses and distribution centers, using PPE at all times.

Job Title: Manufacturing Technician (Mechanical Assembler)
Job Description

The Manufacturing Technician (Mechanical Assembler) manually assembles and reworks large-scale electrical panels for data center systems, following established work instructions, blueprints, visual aids, and strict quality standards. This project focuses on disassembling units in the field, repairing and replacing bolts, and reassembling equipment to meet customer specifications while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Shifts Available

5:00am - 7:00pm

  • Employees must be prepared to work 10-12 hour days, 6-7 days a week
Responsibilities
  • Manually disassemble large-scale electrical panel units containing approximately 1,3001,700 bolts and replace broken or improper bolts, ensuring all fasteners are tightened to the correct torque specifications.

  • Assemble and reassemble units according to customer specifications, blueprints, and visual aids, ensuring all components are correctly placed and secured.

  • Use hand tools and power tools such as rivet guns, torque wrenches, and other small tools to perform mechanical assembly and bolt replacement tasks.

  • Operate bar code scanners and other production-related equipment to track work, materials, and completed tasks accurately.

  • Work as part of a collaborative production team of approximately five people (four mechanical assemblers and one quality technician) to disassemble, repair, and reassemble units efficiently.

  • Coordinate with teammates to organize tasks that require multiple team members, including team lifts and complex disassembly or reassembly activities.

  • Visually inspect parts and assemblies for proper insertion, placement, and overall quality, identifying and correcting any defects or issues.

  • Travel between multiple work sites, including data centers, warehouses, and distribution centers, while consistently wearing and maintaining proper PPE.

  • Use a 3-foot ladder to access the tops of units and perform work at elevated but manageable heights as required by the task.

  • Perform heavy lifting and repetitive mechanical tasks for extended periods while maintaining focus and attention to detail.

  • Follow all safety procedures and site rules, including wearing required PPE at all times and complying with data center power-down and clearance processes before starting work on units.

  • Complete required virtual training and on-site training sessions and apply the knowledge gained to work safely and effectively in operational data center environments.

  • Utilize a personal computer with a Windows-based operating system and related software to access instructions, training materials, and documentation as needed.

  • Apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions and adapt to changing production priorities based on business demand.

Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a manufacturing technician, mechanical assembler, or in other relevant hands-on mechanical or assembly roles.

  • Demonstrated experience with mechanical assembly, including working with bolts, fasteners, and large mechanical structures.

  • Proficiency using power tools and small hand tools such as rivet guns, torque wrenches, and other assembly tools in a production environment.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, visual aids, and simple written instructions, including short correspondence and memos.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in production, assembly, or manufacturing environments with a focus on quality and safety.

  • Expertise in machine operating, mechanical systems, and basic hydraulics is beneficial.

Work Environment
  • The environment is hands-on and physically demanding, involving heavy lifting, repetitive mechanical tasks, ladder use, and close collaboration within teams of approximately five people.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
