General Summary of Position

Job Summary:

MedStar Health is seeking a Mechanic Journeyman-Plumber to join our team at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital.

The Mechanic Journeyman will perform a variety of general plumbing and preventative maintenance tasks on hospital facilities and equipment, including some related new construction and renovation work.

Primary Duties:

1. Diagnose, repair, and install using blueprints, codes, specifications, and industry standards. Ensure that time and material records are complete, accurate, and submitted at the end of each shift. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, determine repairs needed, and initiate work orders.
2. Correct leaks, sewage stoppages, and equipment malfunctions. Cut, bend, and thread pipes; fit threaded pipes with adjoining assemblies.
3. Install and repair medical gas lines in patient rooms and operating rooms.
4. Renovate and reconfigure systems to facilitate hospital renovation and equipment replacement projects.
5. Maintain inventory of replacement parts and supplies. Repair and install plumbing system components, including faucets, valves, traps, backflow preventers, etc. Perform asbestos removal. Repair pumps and heat exchangers; replace coils and valves on steam systems or boilers.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of acceptable training.
• Demonstrated competency in relevant areas.
• 3-4 years of related experience.
• Additional certifications in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, process controls, or related fields preferred.
• CFC universal certification required.
• Licensed Plumber with Journeyman Plumbing license required if applicable.
• Master Plumber license preferred for Master Plumber role.

This position has a hiring range of $28.2 - $47.3 per hour.
