General Summary of Position

Job Summary:

MedStar Health is seeking a Mechanic Journeyman-Plumber to join our team at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital.

The Mechanic Journeyman will perform a variety of general plumbing and preventative maintenance on hospital facilities and equipment, including some related new construction and renovation work.

Primary Duties:

1. Diagnoses, repairs, and installs plumbing systems using blueprints, codes, specifications, and industry standards. Ensures accurate and complete records of work performed are maintained and submitted to supervisors. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and initiating work orders.

2. Corrects leaks, sewage stoppages, and equipment malfunctions. Cuts, bends, threads pipes; fits threaded pipes with adjoining pipe assemblies.

3. Installs and repairs medical gas lines in patient rooms and operating rooms. Installs, renovates, and reconfigures systems to facilitate hospital renovations and equipment replacements.

4. Maintains inventory of replacement parts and supplies. Repairs and installs plumbing components including faucets, valves, traps, backflow preventers, etc. Performs asbestos removal. Repairs pumps, heat exchangers, and boiler components.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of acceptable training and demonstrated competency in relevant areas.
• 3-4 years related experience.
• Additional certifications in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, process controls, or related fields preferred.
• CFC universal certification.
• Licensed Plumber (Journeyman license required).
  Master Plumber license preferred.

This position offers a hiring range of $28.2 - $47.3.
