Job Summary:

MedStar Health is seeking a Mechanic Journeyman to join our team at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center. The successful candidate will perform a variety of general maintenance tasks (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, etc.) and preventative maintenance on hospital facilities and equipment, along with some related new construction and renovation work.

Looking for candidates with Plumbing and Electrical backgrounds

Primary Duties:

1. Diagnose, repair, and install using blueprints, codes, specifications, and industry standards. Ensure accurate and complete time and material records, perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, electrical, and piping systems, and train less experienced personnel.

2. Assist other tradesmen in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc. Learn and operate the hospital's computerized DDC building automation system. Maintain HVAC/R parts inventory and perform troubleshooting, repairs, and installations, documenting all work in the CMMS Program via iPad.

3. Correct leaks, sewage stoppages, and equipment malfunctions. Cut, bend, thread pipes, and install medical gas lines. Support hospital renovation projects by system installation, reconfiguration, and inventory management. Perform plumbing repairs and asbestos removal, and overhaul pumps and heat exchangers.

4. Diagnose, repair, and install electrical systems, including low voltage systems like fire alarms, card access, and nurse call systems. Install and maintain electrical conduit, wiring, and circuits, and operate high voltage switchgear.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of acceptable training and demonstrated competency in relevant areas
• 3-4 years of related experience
• Additional certifications in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, process controls, plumbing, or related fields
• CFC universal certification
• HVAC/R Maryland State HVAC/R Journeyman's License
• Journeyman License (area-specific licenses/licenses may be required)
• Electrician license preferred if Electrician work required
• Plumber license required if Plumber work required
• Master Plumber license preferred if Plumber

This position offers a hiring range of $28.20 - $47.30.
