Job summary

Rural King is seeking a Mechanic I to oversee the small engine repair shop within our Rural King Farm and Home Store. You will manage customer work orders, service and repair equipment, order parts, and handle warranty claims while maintaining a safe, clean shop environment.

The role emphasizes delivering excellent customer service, following safety protocols, and using store technology to document repairs and process parts.

Qualifications

• Proficient with small engine diagnostics and repairs.
• Competent with diesel and hydraulic systems.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service for on-site repairs.
• Enforce equipment and tool safety protocols.
• Oversee hazardous materials handling, storage, and disposal.
• Complete warranty paperwork promptly per manufacturer guidelines.
• Maintain accurate daily documentation of repairs and progress.
• Keep shop environment clean, safe, and organized.
• Manage special order parts for work orders as needed.
• Perform servicing tasks following manufacturer specs.
• Use computer systems to identify parts, troubleshoot issues, document repairs, order components, and process claims.
• Perform preventative maintenance on customer and company machines.
• Assist in loading and unloading customer machines for repairs and deliveries.
• Interpret manuals, diagrams, and blueprints to support repairs.
• Communicate professionally with customers and sales teams.
• Provide regular updates on tasks, issues, and schedules.
• Participate in cross-training across departments.
• Engage in training programs to stay current with developments.
• Support other teams with inquiries and issues promptly.
