Job summary

Velcro USA Inc. in Somersworth, NH has immediate Manufacturing Associate openings on first shift (7:00 AM–3:00 PM, Mon–Fri). This hands-on role focuses on maintenance, troubleshooting, and setup of hook-cutting and punch press tooling within a safety-first team environment.

You will perform preventive maintenance, read schematics, and complete required paperwork. Strong attendance, willingness to cross-train, and a commitment to safety are essential. Competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

  • Two years’ maintenance, troubleshooting, service or repair of complex production machinery is required.
  • Ability to read gauges, dials, blueprints and manuals; willingness to complete required paperwork.
  • Onsite manufacturing environment with shift-based schedule; capable of cross-training.
  • HS diploma or GED; optional certification for operating power trucks and scissor lifts.

Responsibilities

  • Commit to safety and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine repairs on rotary-die tooling and hook-cutting equipment.
  • Set up punch press dies and hook-cutting blades; prepare dies for shipment for repair.
  • Record maintenance data and perform Oracle transactions as needed.
  • Collaborate with nearby staff and be willing to work overtime or weekends when required.

Job Objective:

Following standard operating procedures, the hook-cutting mechanic will perform troubleshooting diagnostic analysis, repair, and routine maintenance of the rotary-die tooling machine and hook-cutting tooling. Duties will also include setting up the hook-cutting and punch press machines. The hook-cutting mechanic will maintain quality standards, keep a clean work area, and complete any necessary paperwork, data entry and perform other duties as assigned.

  • Promptly reports any safety incidents or near-misses to the appropriate personnel and contributes to the investigation process.
  • Active participation in safety-related programs and initiatives is required as necessary. This includes involvement in the safety committee on a rotating schedule, as well as participation in Risk Assessments, Exposure Hunts, department inspections, and change management activities.
  • Perform day-to-day maintenance on equipment and tools throughout the department.
  • Perform assigned PMs as scheduled.
  • Set up dies on the punch press and blades on the hook-cutting machines.
  • Prepare dies for use in manufacturing and for shipment to the vendor for repair.
  • Maintain the “maintenance” portion of the database.
  • Order new dies as needed.
  • Place purchase requisitions.
  • Perform all related Oracle transactions.
  • Perform all duties following company safety policies.
  • Assist other staff in performance of duties.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment
  • Full time presence required
  • Ability and willingness to be cross trained in any other functions as required or requested.
  • Excellent attendance required.
  • Ability to work overtime as required or requested including extended shifts and weekends.
  • Additional tasks as assigned.
What You Bring (Qualifications):
  • Must have at least two years of experience in general maintenance, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex production machinery and equipment including electrical and mechanical components, or a two-year trade school degree.
  • Optional certification obtained to operate power trucks and scissor lifts.
  • Ability to read and interpret dials, gauges, rulers, blueprints, schematics, equipment service manuals, and general instructions.
  • Able to complete paperwork and data entry.
  • Ability to wear hearing protection.
  • Ability to maneuver rolls/boxes/tools in excess of 50 pounds.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Able to maintain or exceed work standards which will be reviewed at regular intervals.
  • Onsite manufacturing environment with shift-based schedule.
  • Hands‑on role with equipment operation and team collaboration.
