Job summary

Mechanic - B (II) (West Yard)

Transdev in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an experienced Level 2 Diesel Mechanic to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. As a Diesel Mechanic, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our vehicles.

Position Subject To Collective Bargaining Agreement

Compensation
  • Starting pay $28.61 with progression to $30.04 over 4 months.
  • ASE $0.25 per cert; $0.30 additional for Master ASE.
  • Master ASE total $2.30 above hourly rate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct diagnostic tests using advanced tools and software to troubleshoot diesel engine issues.
  • Perform moderate complexity repairs and replacements on diesel engine components, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Assist A‑Level Mechanics in advanced diagnostic and repair tasks, contributing to efficient workflow.
  • Execute routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize diesel engine performance.
  • Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for diesel engines.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on diesel engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
  • ASE certifications preferred; ASE certification program provided.
  • Mechanic’s Tool Set.
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements
  • Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions—100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.
  • Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level.
  • Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
