Diesel Mechanic

Transdev in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our vehicles.

Pay & Benefits
  • $29.88 – 39.25/ hr

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensures buses operate in a safe, comfortable, like-new condition by performing high quality maintenance repairs and inspections.
  • Performs preventative maintenance inspections and repair on all business-related vehicles, including heavy and light duty equipment.
  • Diagnoses and repairs mechanical, electrical, HVAC, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Rebuilds engines, transmissions, and other components.
  • Performs road calls, on-the-road repairs, and road tests as needed.
  • Keeps assigned work area clean and organized.
  • Maintains DOT card and Class B driver license.
  • Other related duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
  • ASE certifications required; ASE certification program provided.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and various heavy equipment engines, transmissions, starting and charging systems, air brake systems, electrical systems, and component overhaul procedures required.
  • Must be able to comprehend parts books and maintenance manuals and accurately complete any necessary reports or other documents.
  • Mechanic’s Tool Set.
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements
  • Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions—100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.
  • Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level.
  • Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
