Job summary

Quality Repair Solutions in Channelview, TX seeks an energetic Trailer Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain semi-truck trailers and tractors from a service truck, following DOT and safety standards.

Responsibilities include brake work, tire replacement, electrical troubleshooting, parts research, and accurate maintenance logging in our software; prior TIG welding and R-Stamp certification preferred.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience with diesel, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Experience with tractor and trailer maintenance and DOT rules.
• 1+ years of TIG welding experience.
• R-Stamp welding certification.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers; perform annual/systematic 90‑day inspections (trailers) on equipment as required; ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards.
• Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed.
• Order and receive parts and supplies as needed.
• Adhere to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards, including identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposing of hazardous waste.
• Clean, organize and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
• Use welding equipment.

Job Summary

Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on semi-truck trailers and tractors, including tasks like brake adjustments, tire replacements, electrical troubleshooting, basic structural repairs, and more, all while working out of a service truck and adhering to strict safety regulations; general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and company standards. Uses technical publications or automated systems in maintaining vehicles to prescribed manufacturers’ maintenance schedules and for researching parts. Properly annotates all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software.

Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

• Must possess at least 1 year of experience with general knowledge of equipment theory, principles and repair relating to diesel engines, air, and electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Must possess at least 1 year of experience with general knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures.
• R‑Stamp Certified (Able to weld 2G, 3G, 4G and other welding needs on equipment)
• Must have 1+ years of TIG experience.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent vocational school required.
• At least 1 year related experience required.

Additional Job Information

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• This is a full‑time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday; hours depend on location.

• The shop has a climate similar to outdoor weather. Frequent exposure to loud machinery, air tool operation, hammering and engine noise.
