Job summary

Quality Repair Solutions is seeking an energetic, reliable Trailer Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on semi-truck trailers and tractors, in a mobile service setting in Stockton, CA, while following DOT, federal and state regulations and company standards.

You will perform brake adjustments, tire replacements, electrical troubleshooting, and basic structural repairs, documenting work in maintenance software and adhering to safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience with diesel engines, electrical, hydraulic systems
  • 1 year of experience with tractor and trailer maintenance and DOT rules

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
  • Perform annual/systematic 90 day inspections on trailers as required.
  • Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards.
  • Operate a yard hostler to move trailers within the facility yard and shop.
  • Identify parts and supplies as needed.
  • Adhere to OSHA and environmental policies and standards for hazardous waste handling.

Job Summary:

Responsible for diagnosing, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on semi-truck trailers and tractors, including tasks like brake adjustments, tire replacements, electrical troubleshooting, basic structural repairs, and more, all while working out of a service truck and adhering to strict safety regulations; general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and company standards. Uses technical publications or automated systems in maintaining vehicles to prescribed manufacturers’ maintenance schedules and for researching parts. Properly annotates all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
  • Perform annual/systematic 90 day inspections (trailers) on equipment as required.
  • Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards.
  • Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed.
  • Able to identify parts and supplies as needed.
  • Adheres to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Clean, organize and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.

Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess at least 1 year of experience with general knowledge of equipment theory, principles and repair relating to diesel engines, air, and electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Must possess at least 1 year of experience with general knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent vocational school required.
  • At least 1 year related experience required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, hours depend on location.

  • Able to fit into a 20” cargo trailer dome opening.
  • Able to meet safety standards for fall protection harness – max weight 310 lbs. (includes all PPE worn)
