Job summary

Valaris is seeking an experienced Mechanic to support offshore operations. You will lead safety-focused maintenance activities, oversee daily checks on drilling-related equipment, and ensure compliance with PTW and isolation procedures.

You will work with mechanical supervisors and maintenance leads to troubleshoot hydraulic systems, plan preventive maintenance, and maintain accurate records, certifications, and spares for critical systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years offshore experience as Mechanic.
• Experienced and trained on hydraulic systems troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Completion of all mandatory training and certification requirements for Mechanic as described in the training matrix.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a safety leader focusing on Permit to Work and Isolation procedures.
• Performs daily checks on areas and equipment (drilling related equipment).
• Informs Mechanical Supervisor and/or maintenance lead of technical problems affecting safe operation.
• Plans and executes preventive maintenance with a six-week overview and maintains records/certifications.
• Ensures maintenance is planned, organized, supervised, and executed per well programs and obligations.
• Prioritizes maintenance tasks on safety and environmental critical equipment/systems (SECEs).
• For rigs with Performance Standards, prioritizes tasks with Assurance Activities.
• Maintains understanding of safety case, MAHs, bow tie, and PS documents in VAMS.
• Uses VAMS to identify Barrier equipment.
• Maintains workshop equipment and tools to high safety standards.
• Maintains minimum spares onboard for critical systems.
• Supports crew in operation and maintenance of equipment.
• Communicates work status at shift handovers.

Job description

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Acts as a safety leader ensuring the ongoing identification of hazards and controls to manage theassociated risks with a special focus on Permit to Work and Isolation procedures.
• Performs daily checks on the condition of areas and equipment (i.e. knuckle boom cranes, mudpumps, draw works, top drive, mud treatment, all drilling related equipment, and systemsunder assigned responsibility).
• Informs Mechanical Supervisor (as applicable) and/or maintenance lead of any technical problems or limitationsthat might affect the safe operation of the vessel.
• Plans and executes preventive maintenance with a minimum ofsix-weekoverview to cover current hitch and half of back‐to-back hitch; maintains an updated and accurate historical record of all maintenance done as well as all equipment certification documents.
• Ensures that maintenanceis planned, organized, supervised, and executed in accordance with wellprograms, company requirements, and contractual obligations.
• Prioritizes maintenance tasks assigned on safety and environmental critical equipment/systems (SECE’s) as defined in (Valaris Asset Management System) VAMS.
• For rigs with Performance Standards:
• Prioritizes maintenance tasks assigned with Assurance Activities required by Performance Standards.
• Maintains an understanding of the relationship between the rigs safety case, identifies Major Accident Hazards, the bow tie assessment, Performance Standard (PS) documents, and PS Assurance Activity tasks in VAMS.
• Uses the VAMS system to identify equipment identified as Barriers.
• Maintains workshop equipment and tools to the highest safety standards.
• Maintains a minimum number of spares onboard for critical/safety/maintenance/operational systems.
• Supports members of the crew in the operation and maintenance practices ofequipment.
• Clearly and accuratelycommunicates work status at the end of shift and end of hitch handovers.

Qualifications / Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two (2) years of offshore experience in the position of Mechanic.
• Experienced and trained on hydraulic systems troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Completion of all mandatory training and certification requirements for Mechanic as described in the training matrix.
