Responsibilities

• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment including generators and distribution systems.
• Maintains and troubleshoots High/Medium/Low voltage equipment and drives.
• Monitors and maintains barriers and safety-related systems per VMS.
• Documents maintenance and equipment certifications with accurate historical records.
• Provides handover to oncoming electricians for changes and tours as needed.
• Operates and maintains electrical test equipment and reviews power diagrams for isolation.
• Prioritizes maintenance tasks and ensures minimal downtime on critical equipment.

Job description

• Performs Preventive and Corrective Maintenance on all electrical equipment to include but not limited to: Main and Emergency Generators
• Distribution (High, Medium and Low Voltage)
• Variable Frequency Drives (Propulsion and Drilling)
• Electric Motors (All motors including Propulsion Drive Motors)
• HVAC Systems (Electrical Part)
• Galley and Laundry Systems
• Coordinates planning and execution of preventive maintenance with a minimum of 6-week overview to cover current hitch and half of back‐to-back hitch, keeping an updated and accurate and detailed historical record of all maintenance done as well as all equipment certification documents.
• Coordinates all maintenance with other departments to ensure minimum impact on operations involving critical equipment.
• For rigs with Performance Standards:
• Maintains an understanding of the relationship between the rigs safety case, identified Major Accident Hazards, the bow tie assessment, Performance Standard (PS) documents, and PS Assurance Activity tasks in VAMS.
• Uses the VAMS system to be able to identify equipment identified as Barriers.
• Ensures effective barrier management through management, oversite and prioritization of maintenance activities associated with Assurance Activates required by Performance Standards for assigned rigs.
• Monitors Barrier conditions for assigned equipment and systems.
• Assesses impacts to overall process safety of assigned rigs due to degraded barrier conditions.
• Troubleshoots complex electrical systems and facilitates repairs down to the lowest replaceable unit.
• Documents equipment historical data for the purpose of reliability analysis and planning necessary upgrades.
• Provides handover to the oncoming electrician providing a seamless transition of work during tour changes and works over at the request of the Chief Electrician when necessary.
• Performs periodic inventory of spare parts for systems in his area of responsibility to ensure minimal downtime and advises the Chief Electrician of low stock levels.
• Operates and maintains all electrical test equipment.
• Reviews power one-line diagrams to determine proper isolation of equipment for maintenance purposes.
• Performs electrical isolations for various departments when required.
• Maintains integrity of installations in hazardous locations and conducts periodic inspections of same.
• Prioritizes and oversees maintenance activities and documentation of maintenance carried of assigned crew on safety and environmental critical equipment/systems (SECE’s).
• Oversees maintenance results and prioritization on assigned rigs on safety and environmental critical equipment/systems (SECE’s).
• Makes electrical department weekly maintenance system entries to document work done including preventive and corrective actions.
• Performs electrical department daily checks filling out the checklist for submission to the Chief Electrician.
• Performs quarterly inspection of all portable electrical devices and tools keeping a log of inventory, color coding and equipment status.
• Ensures order, cleanliness, and housekeeping in his areas of responsibility.
• Keeps written hand-over notes to ensure efficient and accurate transfer of information
• As an identified Barrier Authority (BA) under the Valaris Management System (VMS), integral to the management and control of Major Accident Hazards/Process Safety Risks. Responsible for the thorough and timely completion of assigned barrier integrity verification activities, as prescribed under VMS, for the assessment of associated deficiencies and, if applicable taking mitigating or corrective actions to the best of their competency, knowledge and ability
