Job summary

AFRY USA is seeking a Building Systems Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection for new facilities and upgrades. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams to develop and deliver construction drawings, specifications, and reports.

The role requires strong design skills, client interaction, and the ability to manage projects from concept to construction, with an in-office presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architectural or mechanical engineering
• Minimum 5 years of Building Mechanical Engineering experience
• Knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection codes (IBC, IMC, IPC, IFC, ASHRAE, ASPE)
• FM Global requirements familiarity would be a major benefit
• Proficiency with Revit, BIM, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, MS Office

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering for projects from concept through construction with limited oversight
• Assist in proposals and marketing materials by defining project scope and activities
• Establish project scope, budgets, and design approach for Building systems
• Meet with clients to support preliminary planning and concept development
• Ensure on-time delivery within budget and client expectations
• Design building mechanical systems conforming to AFRY quality standards and codes
• Prepare technical reports and studies and supervise drawings production
• Collaborate with structural, process, electrical, architectural, and civil disciplines
• Mentor and develop junior staff
• Visit project sites to collect data and observe construction progress
