Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support the Spent Fuel Handling Project. The intern will work with engineers and designers from Idaho Falls and other Amentum offices to perform design-related tasks, including researching and responding to RFIs and submittals.

The role requires pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to work onsite at the Idaho National Laboratory.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Mechanical design experience (preferred) and knowledge of engineering principles.
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
• Self-starter and motivated to accomplish tasks.
• Ability to follow established Amentum quality procedures and ensure that all work accomplished under their control is completed under established quality procedures.
• Competent using Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to work onsite at Idaho National Lab daily if needed.
• US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the design team by researching and preparing responses to RFIs and submittals from contractors.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers from Idaho Falls and other Amentum offices to complete technical portions of projects.
• Support project execution with documentation and design support as needed.
