Job summary

IMEG is offering a Mechanical Engineering Intern position in Seattle, WA or the Portland/ Vancouver area for Summer 2027. Over 10–12 weeks, you will assist in the analysis, design, and oversight of mechanical systems for multiple building types, gaining hands-on experience with seasoned engineers and consultants.

You’ll work within budgets, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to high-performance, energy-efficient designs aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030 standards.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years towards a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong interest in design consulting.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Skilled in AutoCAD and BIM software.
• Clear verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist with mechanical system design for projects per IMEG standards.
• Support engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight.
• Help with equipment research and selection of commercially available systems.
• Maintain client relations, project notebooks, and records.
• Coordinate design and schedule with multi-discipline teams.
• Document design decisions and client instructions; monitor progress.
• Review project documents for accuracy before final check.
• Assist with addenda information and site observations.
