Job summary

IMEG in Idaho Falls, ID seeks a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a 10–12 week summer program. This in-office role focuses on design portions, equipment research, and coordinating with multiple disciplines. Strong preference for candidates with 2 years toward a BS in Mechanical Engineering and skills in AutoCAD/BIM.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years towards a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM).
• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written form.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design portions of discipline systems according to code and IMEG standards.
• Research commercially available equipment for project use.
• Support client relations, maintain the project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent records.
• Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical).
• Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions promptly while monitoring progress.
• Review project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to final checks.
• Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and related services as required by the contract.
