Job summary

Meijer, a family company, seeks a store leader to plan, direct, and supervise day-to-day operations across departments. You will mentor staff, drive customer service, and implement strategies to grow sales while meeting customer needs efficiently.

The role focuses on staffing, training, promoting from within, and maintaining store presentation. You’ll oversee staffing decisions, safety, and performance in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in meat, bakery, produce or deli helpful.
• Ability to communicate clearly to team members.
• Ability to resolve conflicts by addressing root cause issues.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions.
• Ability to mentor team members across the organization.
• Successful completion of required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and supervises team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentor and coach for all team members, implementing strategies to improve customer service and store sales.
• Maintain store appearance, prime shopping hours, product presentation and company standards.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning and development for team members; involved in promotion decisions.
• Document disciplinary actions and make discharge recommendations.
• Achieve P&L goals and maintain shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Mentor the team to exceed customer service and sales goals and ensure store area meets Meijer standards.
• Ensure team is trained and has completed required training.
• Spend most time in store interacting with customers and team members.
• Promote a safe work environment.
• Ensure reliable and consistent attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
