Job description

Prepare and display meat items for sale in accordance with company standards and policies. Wait on customers and provide customer services. Demonstrate the company's leadership behaviors and the core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Minimum requirements:

  • Willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to read shelf tags, signs, and product labels, etc.
  • Qualified and able to operate power and various job tools (automatic wrapper, slicer, grinder, power saw, and jack, etc.)
  • Must work safely with various chemically based cleaning solutions.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and willingness to help all members of the department.
  • Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers.

Desired qualifications:

  • Meat work experience or similar experience in food preparation.
  • Dependability and integrity reflected in past work records.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, OSHA compliance, food handling, etc.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and display merchandise in a neat, efficient, and orderly manner.
  • Check product quality; ensure it is always fresh, safe, and merchandise is properly rotated.
  • Keep sales areas, backrooms, coolers clean and well-organized.
  • Keep carts, tools, and supplies in their designated areas and well-organized. Keep floors clean, safe, and free from clutter.
  • Work display cases to ensure proper inventory levels and freshness. Unload trucks, sort, and prepare merchandise for sale.
  • Provide good customer and associate relations.
  • Wash and sanitize equipment in accordance with company and Health Department policies and procedures.
  • Make a clean, neat, and friendly impression on customers.
  • Able to communicate effectively with customers and fellow associates.
  • Wait on customers and counter promptly and cheerfully. Greet customers and assist them in finding products.
  • Follow all current rules and duties of the Meat Department, Company policies, and State and Federal laws.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment. Be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, and professional in all interactions.
  • Adhere to company policies & procedures, especially regarding dress code, grooming, food safety, sanitation, and maintaining a harassment-free environment.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
