Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain well-stocked and attractive meat department cases to meet customer demand. Greet customers with a smile, offer suggestions, answer questions about products, take orders for future delivery, and assist with special requests. Address customer concerns promptly and courteously.
- Set up displays, rotate products, and ensure meat is fresh, properly priced, and labeled. Handle spoiled, damaged, or near-expiration products according to company standards, and remove unsaleable items to ensure quality.
- Possibly grind and cut certain meats and poultry.
- Weigh, wrap, and label merchandise at customer request, maintaining logs for freshness and quality. Follow all food safety and personal safety protocols, and ensure sanitation by adhering to cleaning schedules and health regulations. Properly dispose of trash and manage bone cans.
- Assist in minimizing shrinkage and controlling damages by reporting shortages or overages to management.
- If trained, assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries using appropriate equipment. Training will be provided.
- If trained, assist with baling cardboard or related duties. Training will be provided.
- Ensure smooth department and store operations by cooperating with team members and supervisors. Strive for continuous improvement in job performance.
- Utilize all provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
- Assist in other departments as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not currently include supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily, with or without accommodations. Requirements include:
- High School Diploma or GED, or working toward it. No prior experience required.
