Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keeps meat department cases well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Greet customers, make suggestions, answer questions about various cuts and preparation of products. Take orders for future delivery and help fill special requests. Resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously.
2. Set up displays and rotate product as needed. Ensure meat is fresh, saleable, with proper prices and signage. Handle spoiled, damaged, or near-expiration product according to company procedures. Remove non-saleable product to maintain quality.
3. May grind and cut certain meats and poultry.
4. Weigh and wrap merchandise at customer request; apply correct price and weight stickers. Maintain logs to track freshness and quality. Follow all food and safety codes when handling products and using kitchen tools. Responsible for sanitation, following cleaning schedules, and maintaining work areas per health and OSHA standards. Properly dispose of trash and empty bone cans.
5. Assist in minimizing shrink and controlling damages. Report shortages or overages to the manager.
6. May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries using a power jack or hand jack if trained. Training provided.
7. May assist with baling cardboard or related duties if trained. Training provided.
8. Ensure departmental and store smooth operation through cooperation with co-workers and supervisors. Aim for continuous job performance improvement.
9. Utilize all company-provided PPE, including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and footwear.
10. May assist in other departments as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualification Requirements

Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without accommodation. Requirements include:
