Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keep meat department cases well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Greet customers with a smile, make suggestions, answer questions about cuts and preparation, take orders for future delivery, and help fulfill special requests. Address customer concerns promptly and courteously.
2. Set up displays and rotate products as needed. Ensure meat is fresh, saleable, properly priced, and labeled. Handle spoiled, damaged, or near-expiry products according to company standards. Remove non-saleable products to maintain quality.
3. May grind and cut certain meats and poultry.
4. Weigh and wrap merchandise at customer request, applying correct price and weight labels. Maintain logs for freshness and quality. Follow all food safety and personal safety codes when handling products and using tools. Responsible for sanitation, cleaning schedules, and department hygiene to meet health and OSHA standards. Properly dispose of trash and empty bone cans.
5. Assist in minimizing shrinkage and controlling damages. Report shortages or overages to management.
6. Assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries using a power jack or hand jack if trained. Training provided.
7. Assist with baling cardboard or related duties if trained. Training provided.
8. Ensure smooth department and store operations by cooperating with coworkers and supervisors. Strive for continuous job performance improvement.
9. Utilize all company-provided PPE, including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and footwear.
10. Assist in other departments as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position currently does not have supervisory responsibilities.
