Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keep meat department cases well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Greet customers, make suggestions, answer questions about various cuts and preparation of products. Take orders for future delivery and help fill special requests. Resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously.
2. Set up displays and rotate products as needed. Ensure meat is fresh, saleable, with proper prices and signage. Handle spoiled, damaged, or near-expiration products according to company standards. Remove non-saleable products to maintain quality.
3. May grind and cut certain meats and poultry.
4. Weigh and wrap merchandise at customer request; apply stickers showing correct price and weight. Maintain logs to track freshness and quality. Follow all food and safety codes when handling products or using kitchen tools. Responsible for sanitation, cleaning schedules, and health and OSHA requirements. Properly dispose of trash and empties bone cans.
5. Assist in minimizing shrink and controlling damages. Report shortages or overages to management.
6. Assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries, including operation of power or hand jacks if trained. Training provided.
7. Assist with baling cardboard or related duties if trained. Training provided.
8. Ensure smooth department and store operations by cooperating with co-workers and superiors. Continuously improve job performance.
9. Utilize all company-provided PPE, including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and footwear.
10. Assist in other departments as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
