Cheney Brothers, Inc. is hiring for a 1st shift meat packing position in Fort Lauderdale, FL. You will process and pack meat products to order using hand tools and machines, keep the work area clean, and follow safety and sanitation rules to ensure quality.

The role requires standing for long periods, ability to work in cold environments (approx. 40F), and lifting up to 80 lbs. Pay starts at $16 per hour and increases with experience.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience: 1+ year in the food service/production environment.
• Skills: Ability to stand for extended periods, up to six hours per day.
• Skills: Ability and willingness to work in cold environments such as refrigerated storage or meat processing facilities.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 80 lbs repeatedly.

Responsibilities

• Process and pack meat products to order schedule specifications using hand tools and machines.
• Inspect, weigh and prep meats (beef, pork and/or lamb) to various specifications.
• Sharpen and adjust cutting/processing equipment; start-up and shut down.
• Receive and inspect meat; maintain stock levels on production line.
• Identify product forms by sight and pack according to specifications (type, boxes, labels).
• Adhere to SOPs, GMPs, USDA, SQF procedures and all safety/quality/sanitation rules.
• Work in refrigerated environments around 40F.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area.

Position Purpose

Processes and packs meat products using hand tools and machines to meet order specifications. Follows safety and sanitation rules while keeping the work area clean and organized.

Major Functional Responsibilities

• Process & pack meat products to order schedule specifications either by hand or by various machines including but not limited to slicer, marin
• Inspect, weigh & prep meats (beef, pork and/or lamb) to various specifications
• Sharpen and adjust cutting/processing equipment. Start-up and shut down equipment.
• Receive and inspect meat. Maintain proper stock levels on production line.
• Identify various product forms by sight and pack each product according to specifications (type of product, boxes, labels, etc.)
• Adhere to all company SOPs, GMPs, USDA, SQF procedures, etc. and work consistently with all food safety, quality and sanitation requirements
• Able to work in refrigerated environments, approx. 40F
• Perform all other duties as assigned that are necessary, required or directed by management.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area throughout the facility and common areas.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with all policies and standards

Required Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Experience: 1+ year experience in the food service industry or food production environment.

Skills: Ability to stand for extended periods, up to six hours per day

Skills: Ability and willingness to work in cold environments such as refrigerated storage or meat processing facilities.

Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding work, including repeatedly lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 80 lbs throughout the shift on a regular basis.

Compensation

From $16 per hour and up based on experience.
