Job summary

Hy-Vee is hiring a Meat Clerk in the Meat Department. The role provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, including wrapping, trimming, stocking cases, and receiving merchandise.

You will work with the team to ensure exceptional service, rotate stock for freshness, and maintain a clean, safe work area. Physical duties include lifting and moving heavy items, cutting and preparing meat and seafood as needed.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent experience; food safety training required.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
• Must be able to perform physical tasks and lift up to 85 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by showing care and patience in all interactions.
• Greets customers with a friendly demeanor in the department or store.
• Learn customers’ names and address them by name when possible.
• Assist customers by guiding them to products, securing items, loading/unloading heavy items, and relaying requests.
• Answer phone calls promptly and provide helpful service to callers including taking orders.
• Work with team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Wraps, weighs, and labels products.
• Stock cases and rotate products for freshness and quality.
• Prepare and organize seafood items for display; follow sanitation procedures.
