Job summary

Shaw’s and Star Market in Maine is seeking a seasoned Meat Department Manager to oversee daily operations, ensure food safety, manage production, ordering, and merchandising while driving service and profitability.

You will train and lead associates, optimize schedules, monitor waste, and maintain displays to company standards, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Experience in meat department production and merchandising.
• Strong inventory management and shrink control.
• Labor planning, scheduling, and performance management.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation and compliance.
• Ability to train and direct associates.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily Meat Department operations to meet service, quality, and financial expectations.
• Maintain a professional, customer-focused environment and respond to customer inquiries and special orders.
• Plan and coordinate daily production activities including preparation, packaging, stocking, and merchandising.
• Ensure displays are stocked, rotated, labeled, and maintained to company standards.
• Implement promotional and seasonal programs as scheduled.
• Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, temperature, and regulatory requirements.
• Review production results and adjust activities to support yield and profitability goals.
• Manage ordering, inventory levels, shrink, reclamation, and departmental expenses.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas including preparation rooms, coolers, freezers, display cases, and equipment.
• Schedule, train, coach, and oversee associates to ensure coverage and performance expectations.
• Complete and maintain required documentation including logs, reports, and audits.
