Job summary

SpartanNash is seeking an experienced department leader to manage day-to-day operations in a Traverse City area store. You will train staff, ensure staffing levels meet needs, and drive performance against company goals and KPIs.

You will oversee inventory, scheduling, and compliance with safety and quality standards while coordinating with store leadership to optimize daily operations and customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate (Required) or Equivalent (GED).
• Two years retail experience preferred.
• One-year supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and bookkeeping skills.
• Good organization, prioritization, decision-making, problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Strong leadership abilities with capability to work in a hands-on environment.
• Good strategic planning and business acumen skills.
• Good knowledge of retail store operations; knowledge of retail management systems.
• Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Spanish language ability is desirable depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day department operations in a retail store to meet company goals and KPIs.
• Order and maintain inventory in the department while ensuring freshness and quality.
• Review and validate received orders for amount, quality, count or weight and storage.
• Manage a team that completes stocking, production and tasks to ensure quality and date-sensitive rotation.
• Maintain familiarity with all products in the department and store.
• Oversee weekly and period Flight Plan communication and execution to expectations.
• Manage scheduling, labor control, overtime, and payroll expenses for the department.
• Develop and monitor department goals and forecasts; participate in meetings as required.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and safety guidelines at all times.
• Support department staffing, training, performance management and career development.
