Job summary

Whole Foods Market in New York is seeking a Meat Cutter to cut, prepare, display, and sell meat products while delivering outstanding customer service. You will follow health and safety standards, mentor trainees, and maintain product quality and freshness.

Responsibilities include prepping various meats, managing spoilage, ensuring accurate pricing, and supporting store programs. A fast-paced environment and flexible schedule, including nights and holidays, are required.

Qualifications

• 14+ months retail experience.
• Completion of WFM Butcher Apprentice Program or equivalent training.

Responsibilities

• Cuts, platters, and merchandises products (beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry).
• Prepares specialty meat merchandise (sausage, oven ready products, cured meats).
• Checks product to ensure it meets quality standards.
• Maintains sampling program.
• Monitors and assists in preventing spoilage.
• Mentors and supports Meat Cutter Trainee(s).
• Arrives on time, groomed and ready to work; participates in trainings and meetings.
• Provides excellent customer service, assists customers, and uses suggestive selling techniques.
• Maximizes sales through proper prep, storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising.
• Follows procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
• Maintains a clean and sanitary work/shopping environment; maintains equipment.
• Performs opening, mid, and closing duties; ensures pricing accuracy.
• Reports safety hazards and violations immediately.
• Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.
