Job summary

ShopRite of Emerson in Emerson, NJ is seeking a Meat Cutter Clerk to provide excellent customer service in the Meat Department. You will cut meat, prepare products, and assist customers with selections according to company standards.

The role requires lifting up to 35 lbs regularly and occasionally 80–90 lbs, working in refrigerated spaces, and adhering to safety and sanitation guidelines. Excellent teamwork and attendance are expected.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, speak English proficiently.
• Basic math skills required.
• Strong knowledge of safe food handling and safe work habits.
• Regularly lift 35 lbs., occasional 80–90 lbs.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures.
• Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powders without negative allergic consequences.
• Tolerance to dust and cleaning agents during routine duties.
• Operate Meat Department equipment such as band saws, grinders, wrapping machines, power jacks, knives and cutters.
• Stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
• Interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Work cooperatively with others.
• Adhere to time and attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
• Maintain sanitation control according to Company policy.
• Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils and equipment per standards.
• Keep floor clear of debris and spills.
• Work in refrigerated cutting rooms and storage areas with humidity and cold temperatures.
• Follow procedures for receiving, dating, storing, pricing, restocking products to ensure quality and rotation.
• Handle damaged and spoiled products per policy.
• Check refrigeration equipment and report failures.
• Unload trucks and transport merchandise to Meat Department (35 lbs, occasionally 80–90 lbs).
• Rotate products in meat cases and restock as needed.
• Adhere to QA standards and equipment maintenance.
• Dress and groom per policy; wear gloves when handling food.
• Complete all applicable department training programs.
• Operate according to Fresh Grocer Service Priorities (Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, Efficiency).
• Maintain punctual attendance; work overtime as assigned.
• Work cooperatively with others.
