Job summary

ShopRite is seeking a Meat Cutter Clerk in East Windsor, NJ to deliver great customer service, cut meat, and maintain a visually appealing department. You will operate meat department equipment, ensure safety and sanitation, and assist customers in selecting meat items.

The role requires lifting up to 90 lbs, standing long hours, and working in refrigerated environments. Training and compliance with company policies are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak English and understand basic instructions.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Strong knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation.
• Physical ability to stand, lift 35 lbs. and occasionally 80–90 lbs.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures.
• Ability to work with fresh, dried, and processed products and related substances.
• Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents.
• Ability to operate Meat Department equipment (band saws, grinders, wrapping machines, power jacks, knives).
• Ability to stand/walk for long shifts and interact with customers.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others and follow schedules.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
• Maintain sanitation control according to Company policy.
• Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils and equipment.
• Keep floor clear of debris and spills.
• Work in refrigerated cutting rooms and cold storage with high humidity; handle temperatures down to -20°F.
• Follow procedures for receiving, dating, storing, pricing, and stocking products.
• Handle damaged and spoiled products per policy.
• Check refrigeration equipment and report failures.
• Unload trucks and transport merchandise weighing 35 lbs. and up to 80–90 lbs.
• Rotate and refill meat cases; maintain proper product placement.
• Adhere to company shrink guidelines and QA standards.
• Dress according to policy; use gloves when handling food.
