Job summary

Safeway is hiring a Meat Cutter Apprentice to learn from experienced meat cutters and master cutting, trimming, and preparing a variety of meat products. You’ll help set up displays, keep the department clean, and deliver friendly customer service in a fast-paced environment.

No prior cutting experience is required; a strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and pride in doing quality work will help you succeed as you grow your skills with mentorship and on-the-job training.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn through on-the-job training and mentorship.
• Work Ethic: reliable, hardworking, and committed to learning and contributing to the team.
• Food Safety Awareness: basic sanitation and safe handling of raw meat.
• Customer Service Skills: friendly, helpful, and able to answer product questions.
• Physical Capability: lift up to 40 lbs., stand long periods, work in a refrigerated environment.
• Attention to Detail: follow instructions precisely and keep spaces clean.
• Teamwork: partner with associates to foster a positive store culture.
• Basic Technical Skills: learn meat department tools and equipment.
