Job summary

Chedraui USA in Houston, TX is seeking a friendly Meat Clerk to assist customers, keep shelves clean, and maintain the meat display cases.

You will coordinate with the Meat Cutter on cuts and special orders, while lifting up to 60 pounds and standing for long periods; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities and Duties

Under direct supervision, the Meat Clerk provides friendly, courteous, and helpful customer service. The role includes assisting customers, cleaning shelves, and maintaining display cases. The clerk cleans, fills, and rotates the Meat Wrap displays, works with customers to take special orders, and coordinates with the Meat Cutter to determine items that need to be cut. The position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs., bend, stand, and stoop for prolonged periods. The working environment is typical for a fast‑paced grocery store, and essential functions include physical duties such as lifting, standing, walking, kneeling, as well as visual and auditory requirements.

Qualifications

• Read and write Spanish and English, interact with the general public and co‑workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, product pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
