Job summary

Fiesta Mart in Houston, TX, part of the Chedraui USA group, is hiring a Meat Clerk for Store 049 Houston-Fulton. You will help customers, maintain meat displays, process special orders, and work with the Meat Cutter to prepare items. The role requires ability to lift heavy weights and stand for extended periods.

The position is part of Store Operations and offers opportunities for growth and ongoing education benefits within a dynamic grocery environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write Spanish/English.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, product pricing codes, shelf tags, memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to present information clearly in one-on-one or small group settings.
• Ability to follow detailed but uninvolved instructions.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs (frequently up to 45 lbs).

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, courteous customer service to shoppers.
• Clean shelves and display cases; maintain Meat Wrap displays.
• Assist with special orders; coordinate with Meat Cutter on item cuts.
• Support a fast-paced grocery environment and physical requirements as described in the job description.

• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

The Opportunity

Under direct supervision, the Meat Clerk provides friendly, courteous and helpful customer service. Assists the customers, clean shelves, and display cases. Cleans, fills, and rotates the Meat Wrap displays. Works with customers to take special orders as well as with the Meat Cutter to determine which items need to be cut. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., Bend, stand and stoop for prolonged periods.

The working environment is typical for a fast-paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements. Food Handler Card or its equivalent certification is required for all positions related to: preparation, handling and serving food.
