Job summary

Fiesta Mart in Houston, TX is seeking a Meat Clerk to support customers and maintain meat displays. The role involves assisting with special orders, coordinating with the Meat Cutter, and keeping its area clean and organized while following safety and quality standards.

Applicants should be able to read and write in Spanish and English, handle physical tasks, and provide friendly service in a fast-paced grocery setting.

Qualifications

• Read and write Spanish/English; interact with customers and co-workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Present information in one-on-one and small group settings to customers and staff.
• Apply common sense to detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lb, frequently up to 45 lb, occasionally up to 60 lb.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, courteous customer service under direct supervision.
• Clean shelves and display cases; maintain Meat Wrap displays; rotate stock.
• Assist customers with special orders; coordinate with Meat Cutter for item preparation.
• Must lift 50 lbs., stand and move for prolonged periods in a fast-paced grocery environment.

The Opportunity

Under direct supervision, the Meat Clerk provides friendly, courteous and helpful customer service. Assists the customers, cleans shelves, and display cases. Cleans, fills, and rotates the Meat Wrap displays. Works with customers to take special orders as well as with the Meat Cutter to determine which items need to be cut. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., bend, stand and stoop for prolonged periods. The working environment is typical for a fast‑paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking, and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements.

Additional Requirements

Food Handler Card or its equivalent certification is required for all positions related to preparation, handling and serving food.
