Job Summary

Job Title: Meat Clerk

Reports To: Meat Manager

The Meat Clerk maintains stock levels within the Meat Department's sales floor by replenishing products as needed. The role involves providing exceptional service to all guests both behind the service counter and on the sales floor, embodying the boomerang theory.

External Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist guests in finding items on or off the sales floor.
  2. Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests.
  3. Provide excellent guest service by professionally answering department calls and assisting on the sales floor.
  4. Support teammates and contribute positively to the Meat Department's culture.
  5. Address guest concerns and resolve issues using the boomerang principle.
  6. Ensure high-quality standards by inspecting, rotating, maintaining proper temperatures, and replenishing meat products on display.
  7. Maintain proper inventory levels (containers, wraps, tags, etc.).
  8. Maintain food safety logs and follow proper procedures.
  9. Meet quality standards, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm.
  10. Attend work as scheduled, providing adequate notice for absences.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers and personnel.
  • Good communication skills and ability to handle a diverse team in a high-stress environment.
  • Understanding of safety requirements and policies.
  • Ability to recognize and react to safety hazards; knowledge of equipment and procedures like slicers, proper lifting, trash compactor, and baler.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Stand, bend, stoop, and kneel regularly.
  • Full upper body motion.
  • Lifting up to 80 pounds occasionally.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (freezers, coolers, kitchens, sales floor).
  • Repetitive hand and wrist motions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Schedule

The Meat Clerk position can be part-time or full-time with shifts including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
