Job Summary

Job Title: Meat Clerk

Reports To: Meat Manager

The Meat Clerk maintains stock levels within the Meat Department's sales floor by replenishing products as needed. Provides exceptional service to all guests both behind the service counter and on the sales floor, embodying the boomerang theory.

Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist guests in finding items on or off the sales floor
  • Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests
  • Provide excellent guest service by professionally answering department calls and engaging with guests on the sales floor
  • Support team members and contribute positively to the Meat Department culture
  • Address guest concerns and resolve issues using the boomerang principle
  • Ensure high-quality standards by inspecting, rotating, maintaining proper temperatures, and replenishing meat products on display
  • Maintain proper inventory levels for supplies like containers, wraps, and tags
  • Keep food safety logs and follow proper procedures
  • Meet quality standards, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm
  • Maintain regular, timely attendance and notify management in case of absences
  • Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily. The following qualifications are required:

  • Effective tactful communication with customers and staff
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, capable of handling a diverse team in a high-stress environment
  • Understanding of safety requirements and company safety policies
  • Ability to recognize and react to safety hazards, and knowledge of equipment and procedures such as slicers, proper lifting techniques, trash compactor, and baler
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Stand for long periods, with regular bending, stooping, and kneeling
  • Full upper body mobility
  • Occasional lifting up to 80 pounds
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (freezers, coolers, kitchens, sales floor)
  • Repetitive hand and wrist motions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
WORK SCHEDULE

This position can be part-time or full-time, with shifts including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
