Job Summary

Job Title: Meat Clerk

Reports To: Meat Manager

The Meat Clerk maintains stock levels in the Meat Department by replenishing products as needed. Provides exceptional service to guests both behind the service counter and on the sales floor, embodying the boomerang theory of service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist guests in locating items on or off the sales floor
  • Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests
  • Provide excellent guest service by professionally answering calls and assisting on the sales floor
  • Support team members and contribute positively to the Meat Department culture
  • Address guest concerns and resolve issues using the boomerang principle
  • Inspect, rotate, maintain proper temperatures, and replenish meat products to ensure quality standards
  • Maintain proper inventory levels for department supplies
  • Follow food safety protocols and keep logs accordingly
  • Meet quality standards, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm
  • Attend work as scheduled, providing notice for absences and arranging replacements when needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates should be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily. The following skills and knowledge are required:

  • Tactful and effective communication with customers and staff
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of safety requirements and company policies
  • Ability to recognize and react to safety hazards, with proper training on equipment and procedures such as slicers, lifting techniques, and waste management

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to stand for long periods, bend, stoop, and kneel regularly
  • Full upper body mobility
  • Lifting up to 80 pounds occasionally
  • Exposure to cold environments like freezers and coolers
  • Repetitive hand and wrist movements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting

WORK SCHEDULE

This position can be part-time or full-time, with shifts including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
