Job Summary

Job Title: Meat Clerk

Reports To: Meat Manager

This role involves maintaining stock levels within the Meat Department's sales floor by replenishing products as needed. The Meat Clerk provides exceptional service to guests both behind the service counter and on the sales floor, embodying the boomerang principle.

External Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist guests in finding items on or off the sales floor
• Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests
• Provide excellent guest service, answer department calls professionally
• Support teammates and contribute positively to the Meat Department culture
• Address guest concerns and resolve issues using the boomerang principle
• Ensure high-quality standards by inspecting, rotating, maintaining temperatures, and replenishing meat products
• Maintain proper inventory levels (containers, wraps, tags, etc.)
• Follow food safety procedures and maintain logs
• Meet quality standards, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm
• Attend work as scheduled, providing notice for absences
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Candidates should be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily. Requirements include:

• Tactful and effective communication with customers and staff
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Understanding of safety requirements and policies
• Knowledge of equipment and procedures such as slicers, lifting techniques, trash compactors, and balers

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Stand, bend, stoop, and kneel regularly
• Full upper body motion
• Lifting up to 80 pounds occasionally
• Exposure to extreme temperatures (freezers, coolers, kitchens, sales floor)
• Repetitive hand and wrist motions
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Work Schedule

The Meat Clerk position can be part-time or full-time, with shifts including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
