Job description

This is not an official job description, but it outlines major responsibilities a new hire can expect to perform. The position of meat clerk includes the following:

DUTIES:

1. Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
2. Maintain regular, reliable attendance as an essential function of the job
3. Wrap, label, and price products
4. Prepare products for the service meat case
5. Engage in suggestive selling and product sampling
6. Receive products from the warehouse
7. Stock, straighten, and rotate products in meat cases and coolers
8. Read and understand shelf tags
9. Follow company safety guidelines when using equipment
10. Provide customers with proper cooking instructions
11. Check and maintain proper temperature controls for coolers, freezers, and the cutting room
12. Maintain cleanliness of work area, equipment, and meat cases following safety and sanitation guidelines
13. At closing, pull products from the service meat case for proper storage
14. Perform other duties as assigned by store management

TRAINING:

Training will be provided at the store level.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Bending and stooping
• Working in a cold, wet environment
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Standing for entire shift (4-8 hours)

Additional Requirements – Internal Candidates:

• Store/Facility Teammates: minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred
• Store Support Center Teammates: minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred
• Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline)
• If invited for an interview, must have manager approval based on performance
