Specific Responsibilities

The Oil and Gas Measurement Technician II is responsible for the accurate measurement and monitoring of oil and natural gas meters, flow rates and pressures. They install, calibrate, and maintain oil and gas measurement equipment, such as meters, gauges, and transmitters. They also troubleshoot and repair measurement equipment as needed. Oil and Gas Measurement Technicians II may work independently or as part of a team, and they often collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate oil and gas measurement and billing. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of oil and gas measurement principles and equipment.

  • Perform installation, programming, commissioning and maintenance of oil and gas measurement equipment.
  • Plan, schedule and coordinate work efforts with other departments to ensure timely completion of measurement projects.
  • Perform scheduled calibrations, inspections and troubleshooting of oil and gas measurement equipment.
  • Install, program, troubleshoot and maintain related data communication devices.
  • Possess the desire and ability to learn how to operate and configure devices in host software such as Cygnet and FMS with the support of a mentor and/or Foreman.
  • Obtain both spot and composite gas samples, and transport hazardous/non-hazardous materials.
  • Perform gas quality tests by use of stain tubes or other equipment as necessary.
  • Witness custody transfer settlement tests and inspections to ensure Apache’s measurement interests are monitored and meet contractual, state and federal requirements.
  • Maintain audit preparedness for area of responsibility with the ability to respond to and correct audit findings.
  • Maintain system balances and must have the ability to identify/resolve oil and gas loss/measurement discrepancies.
  • Maintain all oil and gas measurement related data and reports to satisfy contractual, state and federal requirements.
  • Ensure implementation of measurement best practices and policies.
  • Possess the desire to learn and advance skills and operational knowledge by working with mentors and Foreman.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, Associate Degree or Technical Certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of Oil and Gas Measurement experience or equivalent related industry experience.
  • Must be proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and associated measurement software.
  • Excellent communication and grammar skills exhibited both in conversation and written materials.
  • Basic understanding of oil and gas production operations and midstream processes.
  • Working knowledge of the methods of measurement used for allocation and custody transfer points.
  • Basic knowledge of applicable RRC, OCD, BLM, UL, GLO, AGA, and API requirements and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of low voltage power systems and electronics, 12–24 VDC.
  • General knowledge of laboratory analysis results related to oil and gas sampling.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to complete tasks under moderate supervision.
